What is
JUVÉDERM®?

One of several brands of dermal fillers on the market today, JUVÉDERM® is a non-animal stabilized hyaluronic acid (NASHA). It exists in the form of a transparent gel that can be injected into the skin for various reasons from smoothing out crow’s feet to plumping the lips, and several purposes in between.

In a complex process, a type of bacteria is bioingeneered specially to produce a variety of hyaluronic acid (HA) nearly identical to the one found in the human body. The resulting HA is purified and treated with an agent that causes it to firm up, and converts it to a stable gel form. The HA gel is then dispersed to create the smooth-textured gel known as JUVÉDERM®.

What is Hyaluronic Acid?

Existing in connective tissue, serving to cushion and lubricate, HA occurs naturally in the body. For this reason, it is highly unlikely that anyone would ever experience an allergic or other negative reaction to HA. This is also why a skin test is not required prior to administering JUVÉDERM®.

In addition, because the syringes used to inject JUVÉDERM® are pre-filled by the manufacturer, and not in the clinic setting, the possibility of contamination prior to injection is virtually eliminated.

JUVÉDERM® is available in several varieties, each useful for a handful of specific purposes to help fight the signs of aging, regain your youthful appearance, and boost your self-esteem.

The total cost of your treatment depends on a few factors such as the type of JUVÉDERM® you receive, how many syringes you need, and whether you have multiple areas treated simultaneously. The JUVÉDERM® cost per syringe ranges from $550 to $750 plus tax.

Types and Uses

The great thing about JUVÉDERM® is that it’s not a one-size-fits-all product. Its various types allow our professional injectionist to choose the product that will work best to address your concerns, and help you achieve your desired results.

At TCC, we use the following types of JUVÉDERM® for the indicated purposes:

JUVÉDERM® Ultra™:
Best for lip injections to plump up thin lips, and smooth lip lines and borders

JUVÉDERM® UltraPlus™:
Best for lip injections to plump the lips; can also be used for non-surgical nose jobs, filling out nasolabial folds (smile lines), smoothing lines on earlobes, and filling in acne scars

JUVÉDERM® Voluma®:
Best for plumping and smoothing cheeks, but also to plump and smooth the hands, chin, and temples; also used for labia puffing

JUVÉDERM® Volbella®:
Best for treating tear troughs (the under-eye area) to help diminish dark circles and fine lines, and for labia puffing, as it is a thinner product ideal for the thin skin in these areas

JUVÉDERM® Volift®:
Best for lip injections to plump the lips and smooth lip borders, and for non-surgical nose jobs

JUVÉDERM® Injections

A few minutes before injecting JUVÉDERM® into the area(s) you’re having treated, our injectionist may apply a numbing cream to help prevent discomfort. In addition to the HA gel, JUVÉDERM® syringes contain lidocaine, another numbing agent, to further alleviate any discomfort you may feel as a result of the injections.
