How is Asian Eyelid Surgery
Performed?

Asian eyelid surgery is performed on an outpatient basis, meaning you won't have to stay overnight in our clinic. However, you will need a friend or loved one to accompany you to the clinic, and drive you home. The surgery will take one to three hours, depending on how much correction is necessary. A local anesthetic may be used, but we can also administer general anesthesia if that will make you more comfortable. Please note, this will increase the overall cost of your surgery.
Depending on the extent of correction needed, Asian eyelid surgery generally involves making an incision in the upper eyelid, and removing excess tissue, which may include skin and fat. The incision is then sealed in such a way as to create a crease. Your surgeon will use a specific technique that is designed to both complement the shape of your eyes, and preserve your ethnic identity, thereby keeping your eyes in balance with the rest of your face.
Asian eyelid surgery can also correct asymmetric upper eyelid creases to achieve a more even appearance.
Your surgeon will prescribe pain medication to alleviate any discomfort, and antibiotic ointment to help prevent infection. You may also receive eye drops. You'll return to the clinic in one week for your follow-up appointment, and your surgeon will provide you with any necessary further instructions at that time.
