Diamond Dermabrasion™
Virtually painless, Diamond Dermabrasion™ leaves little or no redness after treatment, restoring your skin's youthfulness and resilience in less than an hour. It is so gentle that, in fact, Diamond Dermabrasion™ does not interfere with many other types of skin treatments!
Microdermabrasion at Toronto Cosmetic Clinic mechanically peels fine layers of skin, removing all grime and dead cells that thrive on the skin's top layer. The growth of new cells both in the deepest layer and collagen occurs. However, many patients find that several of the traditional methods of microdermabrasion in Toronto, involving drug therapies and chemical to laser techniques, are not suitable for their skin type. Enter Diamond Dermabrasion™.
The Diamond Dermabrasion™ System for microdermabrasion at Toronto Cosmetic Clinic is the result of the collective experience of international leaders in skin care and general physicians, combined with advanced engineering technology.
The Procedure
Diamond Dermabrasion™ is a patented dual control system with an adjustable applicator head, with vacuum and crystal projection controls to customize a microdermabrasion procedure to the individual patient. Extremely fine diamond shaped crystals are delivered onto the skin by the device in a steady, effective stream. The Diamond Dermabrasion™ System also micro massages beneath the skin to stimulate blood circulation and the lymph, as well as to promote oxygenation of skin cells.
Even those patients with the lowest of pain thresholds find that microdermabrasion is virtually painless!
While many other treatments of this nature are not suitable for every skin shade and type, the Diamond Dermabrasion™ System is suitable for all.
As with many other treatments, the best results are achieved when a series of microdermabrasion procedures with Diamond Dermabrasion™ are scheduled. The removal of varying depths of epidermal layers in this safe and controlled manner will enhance the dramatic long term results of microdermabrasion at Toronto Cosmetic Clinic.

What problems can be targeted by Microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is suitable for men and women who have discolourations, acne, fine lines and wrinkles, or enlarged clogged pores on the skin. Microdermabrasion gently removes the dirt, grime and dead skin cells which suffocate the top layers of the skin, thereby revealing the smooth and even complexion underneath. The area that is most often treated is the face, however the neck, chest, hands, back and feet can also be targeted efffectively.
With a series of sessions, the procedure may also reduce oily or dry skin.
What problems cannot be targeted by Microdermabrasion?
Deep wrinkles, some scars, and birthmarks cannot be treated. Tattoos also cannot be treated. To remove tattoos, a more effective procedure is available known as Laser Tattoo Removal.

Who is a good candidate?
Men and women alike may experience the skin rejuvenating properties of Microdermabrasion. All skin types and shades may be treated effectively. Microdermabrasion is great for anyone whose skin is thick and dull, or plagued with blemishes or clogged pores. Any shade of skin can be treated.
However, women should undergo treatment after their menstrual cycle, when their skin is less sensitive. Consult a medical professional to ensure Microdermabrasion is appropriate for your skin and the problem you’d like treated.
Who is not a good candidate for Microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is not designed to treat moles or warts. Those with autoimmune disorders, active Rosacea and are experiencing a herpes outbreak cannot be treated as well. Microdermabrasion is not suitable when used in conjunction with other skin rejuvenating techniques, such as laser skin resurfacing or chemical peels.

After the skin is cleaned, the Diamond Dermabrasion™ device is used in the desired area. Then, the skin is treated with a calming toner and cream. The entire procedure lasts under an hour, depending on the number of areas requiring correction. Sessions for most patients last about 30-45 minutes. Following treatment, the skin is sensitive to sun exposure. As a result, a sunblock is also applied to protect the skin.
How is recovery like?
After the procedure, your skin will be sensitive to touch and sun exposure. It may also feel tight. The treated area will be smoother, the complexion more even-toned. Although the skin will be sensitive, you may return to work immediately afterwards. Your medical aesthetician may recommend skincare products to assist in recovery.
Do not exfoliate the treated area a few days following the procedure, use a good sunblock (or wear protective clothing) and be gentle when cleansing. Some degree of flaking may occur. Excessive perspiration may irritate the treated area.
How many treatments will I require?
Many patients can see an improvement after a single treatment however you may need more than one treatment for the desired amount of correction. The best results are achieved after the completion of a series of treatments. Consult a medical professional to determine how many will be required for your situation.
